2021 saw Donelle continue her commitment to the club by taking on the Club Manager role aka THE person who keeps a finger on the pulse of all areas of the club & teams management. Coordinating her team to ensure that the teams, grounds, facilities and club services are all ticking along as and when they should.
A willing assistant when anyone else needs a hand to complete their projects or tasks.
Donelle was instrumental in Phoenix securing Council support and commitment for Goodchild facility upgrades, new state of the art lighting and clubhouse rejuvenation. She continued to stay abreast of the negotiations as the lights were installed and now again with the building & renovation stage is coming to fruition. Always thinking ahead to and preparing for the next step.
And if that didn’t take up time and energy enough, Donelle has led a club delegation in presenting a Member Protection issue and plan to LWA for future improvement of MPIO processes and lacrosse culture. Championing for elevation to a committed stance on providing a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone and particularly children who participate in the game of lacrosse, free from harassment, discrimination and abuse, for everyone. A long and arduous task that is far from completion. Donelle (and the club delegation) remain focused on ensuring a safe and more inclusive future from which lacrosse can grow & prosper, that ultimately sees the promotion of respectful positive behaviour and values within our sport.
Because of Donelle’s contribution, the PhoenixLAX SPIRIT and voice is growing louder and touching more people. The club is stronger, not just in the sense of being more profitable and growing steadily, but in the building of foundations, and a strong sense of community.
A most worthy recipient of The Best Club Person Trophy, it is hard to find the words that truly express our gratitude.
